I have translated the original checklist A Web Standards Checklist, from MaxDesign.
Before starting, let’s clarify some concepts:
What are web standards?
The expression “web standards” can mean different things depending on who you ask.
I came across (via meyerweb.com)
an interesting study
carried out by François Briatte.
In it, he analyses 10 websites (perhaps too small a sample and with
fairly similar topics: web design weblogs) using a comparative survey
based on 25 different criteria.
We all knew about the resource
lipsum.com
(or maybe not).
Now I’ve found an “improved” version, with more options:
lorem-ipsum.info.
Perhaps the most noteworthy feature (among the new options this resource offers)
is the ability to change the
charset.
An essential resource: WebStyleGuide.com
A philosophy I share:
“Design constructs a visual language for the purpose of communication.
It organizes and gives form to a message in a way that adds
value and meaning.
